A flat section agate matrix, engraved on one side with the crest of Duncan, a grey-hound issuing from the wreath, proper, collared, with motto 'Vivat Veritas' above, translated as 'May Truth Flourish', and monogram with initials 'WD' below. The coat of arms engraved verso, a chevron between two cinquefoils in chief, and a hunting-horn stringed in base of the same. The coat of arms with a ribbon bow surmount. 45mm long, 12.10g Provenance: from the Matrix Collection of Historic Hand Seals.Condition Report: Tested as approximately 15ct gold with a 9ct gold chenier to the sprung section, and base metal jump ring. Later soft solder repair to the top loop of the seal.
