Description
Feet & Apple', 1946. Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 16" x 20". Signed. Unframed. Feldman (1925-2017) obtained a BFA from Yale University School of Fine Arts in 1950 and an MFA from Yale School of Design in 1951. Like many of his generation, Feldman’s education was interrupted when he served in WWII in the European Theater of Operations from 1943-1946, earning the Purple Heart. Feldman returned from war a mature, thoughtful, spiritual and serious artist. He began his 53-year teaching career in the Art Department at Brown University in 1953. Having studied with de Kooning and Josef Albers at Yale, Feldman embraced the New York art scene. During the 1950’s he was juried into over 15 museum print exhibitions, and was awarded the Print Prize at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1952. He regularly exhibited at Kraushaar Galleries in NYC, immersing himself in the “beating heart” of the art world and morphing his style to expressionism and abstract imagery. Proceeds from Feldman artwork sales go to the Walter S. Feldman Trust for Artwork, Brown University.
