Reynolds Beal (1866/7-1951), Cole Bros Circus, 1936. Watercolor on paper, signed, titled and dated lower right. 11" x 18 1/2" (sight), matted and framed. Beal is an important figure in the history of American Impressionism and Fauvism. The depression era scenes of circuses and carnivals Beal made after moving to Rockport reflect a maturation of his style, and remain highly collectible.
