Description
A Xalitla Male Figure Xochipala, Guerrero, Mexico, c. 1000 - 500 BC Solid clay with remains of red pigment. He wears a loincloth with a tight skirt that flares down to the back, and bulky footwear. His forearms held out, a rattle in his proper right hand. Long hairdo down back, earrings. He has a pleasant, attentive expression on his face. In very good condition, possible repair and restoration to proper right shoulder and around middle. With a metal stand. Provenance: A Private Collection, Santa Barbara, CA, collected in the 1960s Height: 4 inches
