Description
8th-9th century A.D. A ceramic sprinkler vessel composed of a squat body with foot and a long, U-shaped spout; diaphragm within the flared neck pierced to allow the passage of liquid, integral round-section handle with applied pellets at the junction with the neck, decorated with painted circumferential bands populated with swirls. 833 grams, 34.5 cm high (13 5/8 in.). Acquired in the 1980s-1990s. Previously with Mansour Gallery, London W1. Property of a North West London gentleman.
