Description
2nd-3rd century A.D. A blue glass pouring flask of bird form, composed of a piriform body, cylindrical neck and flanged rim; iridescent surfaces. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession numbers 74.51.80, 74.51.81 and 194173, for comparable flasks dated 1st-3rd century A.D; our flask having greatest affinity with the 1st century A.D. example. 13.9 grams, 91 mm wide (3 1/2 in.). Acquired in the 1980s-1990s. Previously with Mansour Gallery, London W1. Property of a North West London gentleman.
