The Corinthian helmet was the most common military headgear associated with the heavy armoured Hoplites between the 7th and the 5th centuries B.C. This particular specimen belongs to the second authoritative form of the Corinthian typology, which emerged during the second quarter of the 7th century B.C., from the yet primitively structured helmet of the first stage (Bottini, Egg, Von Hase, Pflug, Schaaf, Schauer, Waurick, 1988, p.76).
