Description
Whiting Manufacturing Co., United States. Sterling silver punch bowl decorated throughout with ornate vines with bunches of full grapes delicately dangling from the vines, 1884. A snake winds from the three feet and seemingly disappears into the bowl only to reappear winding through the vines along the upper rim. The hammered interior with a gold wash harkens to the scales of the serpent along the exterior. With a Whiting silver mark, "STERLING," and 1422A stamped along the underside. Additionally marked "Shreve Crump & Low, Boston, U.S.A.," along the underside. With a monogrammed M along the side.
