Description
Telephoto panorama of the summit ridge of the South Massif, taken from the Taurus-Littrow landing site, Eugene Cernan [Apollo 17], 7-19 December 1972, EVA 2

printed 1972
collage of vintage gelatin silver prints on fiber-based paper
44 h × 11 w in (112 × 28 cm)

Large massifs are located on either side of Apollo 17's landing site in the 7-km wide valley of Taurus-Littrow, called the North and South Massifs, respective to their geographic location in relation to each other. The height of these massifs gives the valley a depth greater than that of the Grand Canyon in the United States. The crest of the highest mountain, the South Massif, rises 2,500 meters above the valley floor.

This work is a unique mosaic comprised of thirteen photographs. Numbered to upper margin of each photo 'NASA AS17-144-22080' to 'AS17-144-22093'.

This work will ship from Wright in Chicago, Illinois.
