Description
This is the stated first edition (A-E), published by Harper and Brothers in 1930, of Josephine Pollitt's literary biography, Emily Dickinson, The Human Background of Her Poetry (350 pages), with 30 full page illustrations.
This is in very good overall condition. The cover (app. 8.875" x 5.875") is clean and with a straight spine, but there is a bump to the back cover's bottom edge. The pasted on title/author labels, to the spine and front cover, have no tears or fade.
There is light foxing to the page edges, and minor fade to some illustration borders, but no notable fade to the live areas of the illustrations or to any text, all of which are clearly legible. There are no stamps or other attachments. The only writing is a name, in ink, to the inside front cover. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are a few creases to the end pages, but none otherwise. There are no page tears. The accompanying photos are of this copy.
