The four works include:

1) Harry St. John Dix (1907-1968) WWII Genre Scene: The oil on paper depiction of GI's and a woman in street clothes in a wooded area with transport truck. Sight size measures 8 x 12 with a framed size of 16.5 x 20 inches.


2) Peter Deanna (1920-1980) Oil on Board: The WWII genre scene of GIs hanging out in camp is signed lower left and the back side of the medium is painted with a number of sketches and studies by the artist. Peter Deanna was a relatively prolific artist throughout the New Deal period, though not many of his works have appeared on the market yet. After the war, he took a job with the Smithsonian Institute as a visual information specialist where he also executed a number of murals over his decades there, in addition to the mural he painted in the Belmont, North Carolina in 1940. Board measures 16 x 19.75 with a framed size of 20.25 x 24.25 inches.


3) A composition of GI's standing around in a barracks or POW camp setting. POW camps were bleak, and void of vegetation for security reasons, like the scene here. This work is unsigned. Measures 18 x 24 with a framed size of 22.25 x 28 inches.


4) An unsigned WWII genre scene of figures on an airport runway. Airport scene is adhered to a backing board, residue from the mat is present in the margins. Sight size measures 7.25 x 18.75 with a framed size of 14 x 25.5 inches.

Very good original untouched condition unless noted in the description. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
