A LARGE GILT LACQUERED WOOD STANDING FIGURE OF BUDDHA
Burma (Myanmar), 19th century
The Buddha figure modelled with a slender body, wearing robes with a wide cape, the arms outstretched and holding the hem in the hands, set on a lotus plinth. 136cm (53 1/2in) high.

Overall in good condition, with scattered age cracks and small splits to the lacquer and to the wood, notably cracks across both ankles, small splits to the wood with associated losses to the borders of the robe behind the right leg. Several fingers were reattached. Loss of some small inset stones of the crown and along the borders of the robe. Overall wear to the laquer and to the gilding. All are consistent with age.
