Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel with a broad, foot-shaped base beneath an abstract mammalian face. Perhaps depicting a coyote, bear, or dog, this charming face protrudes from the walls with ovoid eyes and a tab-shaped ornament centered on the brow. Size: 6" W x 9.875" H (15.2 cm x 25.1 cm)

Condition
Professional repair and restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions, nicks, and fading to pigment commensurate with age. Nice preservation of zoomorph head.
