John Pacovsky Acrylic On Canvas Absente Absinthe. This was inspired by Caravaggio's "Baco Naturalism". The framed original that was Commissioned by Absente brand absinthe, is approx 32 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 40 1/2" and it weighs 13lbs. The framed original is in a good, used condition with no known damage. Please see the images as they are part of the description. This original was part of Michel Roux's estate. He was the liquor icon, one of Mr. Roux’s signature spirits at Crillon was absinthe, the anise-flavored spirit known for its popularity among 19th-century artists like van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec. It was banned by the United States in 1912 amid concerns that wormwood, one if its ingredients, which contained thujone, caused hallucinations. In 2000 Mr. Roux introduced a legal absinthe, Absente, which used a sister botanical, Southern wormwood, with only trace amounts of thujone.
