Aesthetic (Patience) teapot and cover

glazed porcelain, enamel
6.25 h × 7 w × 3.25 d in (16 × 18 × 8 cm)
Teapot features a caricature of Oscar Wilde / Reginald Bunthorne to one side and the milkmaid Patience from Patience to the other. This work was designed by R.W. Binns and modeled by James Hadley. Stamped marks to underside and signed 'Budge'. Inscribed to underside 'Fearful consequences / Through the laws of / Natural selection and / Evolution of living / Up to one's teapot'.

Condition
Restoration and inpainting to the leaves and sunflower. Some restoration and inpainting to the opening of the lily. Examination under UV light reveals some florescence in areas throughout, indicating other signs of inpainting. 1/2" loss to leaf at milkmaid side of teapot and small edge chip to leaf at Oscar Wilde side. Minor loss to gilt ring around base.
