Description
interesting bound collection of 32 small drawings and watercolors with a possible royal provenance, including works by William Alfred Delamotte (Br. 1775-1863), Etienne Bouhot (FR. 1780-1862) and William Paul (Ger. 19thC.) and many unidentified examples. A number of British caricatures are included, in the manner of George Cruikshank and W. M. Thackeray. The album with gilt tooled covers and brass clasp, titled Augusta with royal crown. 11 3/4" high, 9 1/2" wide overall. Covers detached, wear and losses to same. Pages chipped at edges, many blank and lacking a number of works previously mounted. Property of a European collector. Possibly originally belonging to Princess Augusta of Hesse - Kassel, daughter-in-law of George III and wife of Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge.
