Clementine HunterThe drawing is done in the well-known Clementine Hunter style.She was an African-American self-taught artist, a native of the Cane River region in the state of Louisiana. She was born on a plantation that she said was the inspiration for Uncle Tom's Cabin where she worked as a farm laborer, never learning to read or write. In her 50s, she began painting, using brushes and paints left behind by an artist who visited the Melrose plantation, where she lived and worked.
