Description
CHINESE HSUAN TE BRONZE CENSER, cover perforated with Ting center surmounted with guardian lion/foo dog, two handles cast separately, currently detached but present. Retains an old surface with rich patina. (Updated 10/7/2022) Probably Qing Dynasty, 1736-1796. 11" HOA.
Provenance: From the collection of Jim Zwiegler and Lisa Schmid-Zwiegler, Broadway, VA.
Catalogue Note: The present lot was collected by Emil Fischer in China during the late 19th century. It was part of a group of items given to his brother Louis Fischer, who in turn gave it to shipping magnet H.C.H. Pearsall, Esq. as a wedding gift for his daughter in 1938. This lot is accompanied by two letters outlining the previous history.
