Titled on verso and on the wooden stretcher: "Illustration for Thomas Hardy "First Lady of Sussex". Depicting an English countryside view with two figures on horseback emerging from forest, with castle visible in background. Executed in dark green, blue and orange - brown color tones. Mounted in gold tone wood frame. Signed by artist on front in lower right corner. Pictured in Catalog of Baum, Sellwerville, PA. Picture measures 23 1/4" x 17 3/8". Framed measures 30" h x 24 3/8" w x 2" d.
