Captain Thomas Coram and Viscount John Percival, Earle of Egmont, 2 Engravings, 18th C, comprising an engraving of John Percival by John Smith after a painting by Godfrey Kneller, published c. 1708, with copy of a page from 'British Mezzotinto Portraits...Descriptive Catalogue' with a listing for this particular print (by sight 17 1/4 in. x 10 3/4 in., John Percival was one of the founding member of the trustees for the establishment of the colony of Georgia in America and was the President of the Georgia Trustees) and an engraving of Captain Thomas Coram engraved by W. Nutter after a painting by William Hogarth (by sight, 19 3/4 in. x 13 1/4 in., Coram was a philanthropist. He accompanied Oglethorpe to Georgia and was involved in the founding of Georgia and South Carolina. He started a foundling hospital and advocated for education for Native American girls).Measurements: Height: of largest frame 27 1/4 in. x Width: 20 3/4 in.
Condition
Overall good condition, Percival engraving with minor foxing, particularly to edges, some waviness to paper, some surface dust on print particularly in left edge, bottom of figures robe, and upper left quadrant, the Coram engraving with minor foxing, particularly along edges, both not viewed out of frames.
