Willis Hakim Jones, Jr. (GA, b. 1953), Carved Cane Marked Sav. GA, initial signed and marked 'Sav. GA.' near base, and carved 'For my Friend John' on bottom, the unfinished wood cane carved with snake-form pattern and triangle motifs, surmounted by ball and claw-form handle.

Willis Hakim Jones, Jr., a native of Savannah, GA, was introduced to woodcarving at a young age, playing with carved wooden ships his father made while he was at sea. Jones worked for a peroid of time making furniture for a local decorative artist. His carvings draw inspiration from the Savannah tradition of walking sticks, but feature more abstract motifs and imbelishments such as diamonds, spirals, checkerboards, and chain links. Jone's walking sticks were featured in an exhibition at the Telfair Museum of Art from 1998-1999 titled 'Masters of the Walking Stick'.
