"Only those who have ridden a bronco the first time it was saddled, or have lived through a railroad accident, can form any conception of the solemnity of such experiences," wrote Frederic Remington, who over a century after his death, remains one of America's all-time greatest artists when it came to capturing the energy and emotion of the romanticized Old West. This is a copy, in bronze, of "Wooly Chaps" depicting a rider holding on to a bucking bronco for dear life. Total weight is over 54 pounds (24.5 kg). Including the marble base, the statue is 20.5" tall The marble base is about 17 x 9". The whip is present, but has been removed form the rider's hand. There are two chips on the top of the back side of the marble base.
