A mountain landscape. In the foreground, the national bobbes Landelin de Lobbes, a Waalse hermit of the seventh century AD. He sits on his knees praying for a rock where a spring rises. In the background some huts of hermits. Saint Landlen is a saint of the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Church. He was a former robber who converted to Christianity. As a result of this, around the year 650, he founded a monastery at Lobbes in Hainaut - Lobbes Abbey - to repair the damage he had previously done. Technique: Engraving. Date: 16th Century. Place: France. Size: 8” x 6” inches / 20 cm x 16 cm.
