Description
French Restauration Clock by Bronzier Deniere, Paris

second quarter 19th century, composed of red griotte marble and bronze dore et patine, the clock mounted with a patinated bronze figure of the goddess Flora, leaning on a clock set with a bronze dore dial marked "Deniere a Paris", the works marked by Deniere and clockmaker Honore Pons (French, 1773-1851), the top mounted with a bronze dore wreath, book and scroll, h. 26", w. 18-1/2", d. 7-1/2", and the matching candelabra with column-form standards set with bronze dore leaf-molded drip pans set with cylindrical candle sockets, h. 28-1/2", dia. 11".
Condition
The marble slabs used to construct the clock have old fractures and filler (likely from a professional restoration). Minor chips to the edges of the marble bases of the candelabra. The dial shows wear to the chapters and light rubbing to the surrounding wreath. Fine casting quality throughout. There are three candle cup inserts missing to the candelabra. Lacking the nut which holds the bell in place. Pendulum and winding key present. We are unsure of its running condition.
