New York Central RR Adlake Switchmans Lantern

Item Details

Description

This is a New York Central Railroad Adlake #100 Kero Switchmanâ€™s lantern. Very hard to find model, as it is easily mistaken for an Adlake Reliable model. The top of the dome shows ADLAKE NO 100 KERO , though this is a 5 3/8” tall globe lantern. It is a one piece top. The rim is cast â€œN.Y.C.R.R.” The patent dates on this model are 1908, 1909, and 1911. The globe retainers for the Kero 100s and the Reliables are easily interchanged to accommodate a shorter 4 inch globe, however, and this is what is in this lantern, a clear Corning CNX globe, cast with the CNX logo, MADE IN USA, and TOP on the globe. Correct working burner, but the fount is a replacement. Lantern body was painted black at one point during its life and could easily be stripped back to original metal to increase the value of this rare model.
