the vertical single cylinder with slide valve eccentric-driven from crankshaft, an elegant beam, the A-frames fixed to upper cylinder flange to provide firm support for the anchor links, triple plummer blocks carry the crankshaft in main bearings with oil cups, cast and machined 6-spoke flywheel, a wheel valve controls the steam inlet to valve chest, heavy cast bedplate on wood plinth, a maker's plate reading: 'Grasshopper Beam Engine, P.B. Slater, Engineer, Scunthorpe, 1971'. All finished in dark green and polished brightwork, wood plinth, glazed display case.
