Description
These antique Staffordshire porcelain figures are modeled as lions lying on their bases with their paws crossed with one lion looking to its right and one looking to the left. The figures are embellished with orange glass eyes. Circa 1880s-1890s. Staffordshire figures are a popular English pottery figurine type starting in the 18th century. Most Staffordshire figures made from 1740 to 1900 were produced by lesser-known small pottery makers and are typically not signed. These particular lions are not signed.
Condition
Overall good vintage condition. Notice the many small paint flecks on both. the lions. The right lion's the thin glaze layer being chipped on its left nose top, and the larger white paint splotch on the left side of the snout. The paint issues can be fixed with certain techniques.
