Albert Madaula is a painter and film director born in Spain and based in Barcelona. He taught himself to paint with references such as Picasso, Hockney, Cocteau, Matisse, Dalà or Kathryn Macnaughton, among others. After leaving his studies in Architecture, in 2010, Albert decided to create a self-published art photography magazine. "Gorgeous Magazine" was the offspring of his shared studio "Verage". It was a magazine where he was free to publish his creative concerns of the moment.
Albert's first project as a director was his black and white short film "Limón", which premiered in Barcelona in 2014. The film also participated in 11 short film festivals such as Edmonton International Film Festival (Canada), or Portobello Film Festival (UK). Albert is currently working on his first feature film "Amor MÃo". A story told from his most personal side.
The inspiration for his paintings comes from moments of pleasure, enjoying the people around him and capturing their essence on canvas. He uses sensual and architectural forms, volumes and vibrant colours. He paints on canvas with acrylic and touches of spray, pastel and oil stick. Male portraits flooded his studio in previous series, now he experiments with full bodies and wild animal imagery with a clear reference to both the classical world and ancient Rome and Greece.
His works have been exhibited at The spectacle, Hong Kong 2016, The issuen 10, Barcelona 2018, La fresh Gallery, Madrid 2018, Museo de las bernardas, Girona, 2018.
