Description
Ancient Greece, Eastern Europe, present-day Ukraine, Odessos mint, ca. 280 to 200 BCE. A silver AR tetradrachm in the type of Alexander III the Great of Macedon, posthumous issue. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress. Reverse: Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and scepter; 3 letter monogram beneath chair, letters kappa, lambda, epsilon, alpha, nu in exergue. Mueller 414. Size: 1.2" Diameter (3 cm); silver quality: 98.6%; weight: 16.6 grams
