Engraved broadside, 23¾ x 19 inches; mat toning, verso shows mount remnants and faint staining. Philadelphia: Art Publishing Association, Swander, Bishop & Co., 1865 The text of the Declaration is calligraphically arranged to evoke Stuart's portrait of Washington, with the signatures surrounding the head. A small inset engraving of Trumbull's depiction of the signing is at top. Bidwell 32, first state with uncorrected dedication to "the Christian Commisson's of the United States." We trace no others sold at auction.
