Los Angeles, 3 May [1973] In the wake of the Chicano Movement, the American Cultures Department at Los Angeles City College was founded in the early 1970s. The featured performance was by Daniel Valdez of El Teatro Campesino, an improvisational theater group which had been formed in 1965 to support striking United Farm Workers grape pickers. This Cinco de Mayo event is discussed in the El Sereno Star of 3 May 1973.
