Original poster, printed on foil stock. Type 2, with Tom Wilkes credit in the upper right border and ticket outlet strip across the bottom. 54x31 cm (21½x12¼"); housed in custom made cloth drop-back box, 57x33 cm (22½x13").

The Monterey Pop Festival was held June 16-18, 1967. It is estimated that 55,000 people attended, with perhaps as many as 90,000 present at the event's peak at midnight on Sunday. The festival featured the first major American appearances by Jimi Hendrix and The Who, and one of the first major public performances by Janis Joplin. The Monterey Pop Festival is generally regarded as the beginning of the "Summer of Love." The large-size posters were used for advertising and posted around the area, so most have tape and tack hole damage and are very scarce in collectible condition. The spine label on the box includes mention of festival programs, which are not present here.

General light wear with some scuffing at edges at the top portion of the poster, numerous pinholes to corners with a few small chips to bottom corners; very good.
