Description
(1) Round lacquered snuff box, French, 19th century, with an amusing image on the lid and bearing an inscription which translates to "The Good Devil, or the diabolical effects of the fashionable game." Some small wear and chips. 3 1/2" diameter. (2) Round lacquered snuff box, French, 19th century, cover features a portrait of Prince Józef Antoni Poniatowski and an inscription commemorating his death at the Battle of Nations which translates as: " This prince covered with wounds was numb while crossing the Elster on October 19, 1813." Some wear and small chips. 3 1/2" diameter. (3) Round lacquered snuff box, 19th century, cover features a woman knitting. Possible repair to lid, chip to bottom edge. 2 5/8" diameter. (4) Round snuff box in striking carved tiger maple, horn lined, gilt lid decoration dated 1840. 2 1/8" diameter. (5) Cigarette case, metal & faux wood, lid painted with a scene of dog and gold clubs. 3 1/4" X 3 3/4".
