Description
A rare and fine Russian Soviet figurine of F. I. Chaliapin as Boris Godunov in M. P. Mussorgskys opera Boris Godunov. Leningrad Porcelain Factory, 1958. Sculptor Yakov Abramovich Troupyansky, 1878 to 1955. Artist Rukavishnikova Varvara Fedorovna, 1878 to 1967. Porcelain, overglaze polychrome painting with gilding. Bearing an incised mark and date to the base: Troupyansky, 1929; also signed and dated to the bottom: Rukavishnikova, 1958, artists initials, and the red ink factory mark. The figurine was published in the book State Porcelain Factory 1904-1944, by Popova I.P., Nosovich T.N., St. Petersburg Orchestra publishing house, St. Petersburg, Moscow, 2005, p. 381.
