Circa 1860 - 1880 and rare form. Unknown maker, although other pot forms have been seen from this unknown Catawba Valley potter. And there is much quartz pearls (aka feldspar) in the glaze. Hence, might there may be a possibility this is from upstate SC. This is fantastic example of truly utilianware and lovingly employed ware from the CV. Great finial is an added interesting aspect. Remarkably, because it was so well made, becauase it is heavy & folksy, it has stood the test of time. Stands 10"H x 6.5"W. Almost mint condition, minus the surface flake to the edge of the attached little trough.
