The octagonal vessel tapering slightly to the bracket feet and pierce carved on all sides with scenes of scholars and attendants before pavilions and in mountainous landscapes, villagers in daily activities before a distant mountain range, and cranes in bamboo groves, each scene punctuated by borders of towering rock formations, the surface details finely incised, the outer edge of the rim inscribed and dated in underglaze cobalt, the vessel covered in clear glaze with a slight blue cast
