A KAKIEMON PORCELAIN BOWL
Arita ware, Kakiemon type
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century
The lobed bowl set on a ring foot and painted in underglaze cobalt, red iron oxide and gilt, decorated on the interior with prunus and rocks, and peonies on a bamboo trellis, all surrounding a single plum floret, the rim decorated with scrolling vines and blossoms below a band of brown iron oxide, the exterior with branches of flowering camellia and birds in flight
