Description

A Victorian porcelain dessert service consisting of twelve plates measuring 9.25" diameter, together with two pairs of comports raised on dolphin grotesques, one pair measuring 5.25" high, the 2nd pair measuring 7" high, all with turquoise & enamelled borders highlighted with gilt, the central fields decorated with various hand-painted topographical views (Warwick Castle, Tantallon Castle, Approach to Killarney, Ross Castle Killarney, Cromarty Bay, Oakhampton Castle, Lock Lomond, Buttermere, Kilchurn Castle, Loch Leven, Sugar Loaf Mountain, The Clyde, Hawthornden, Dartmouth Castle). A few areas of minor rubbing, the reverse of each surface titled in painted script together with pattern #1855. British, circa 1890.
