Description
A Napoléon III gilt bronze mantel clock, mid / late 19th century, the eight-day movement striking on the full & half hour signed Raingo Frères Paris, the white enamel dial showing Roman numerals and also signed Raingo Frères Paris, set beneath the patinated bronze figure of a recumbent classical maiden, raised overall upon a finely cast gilt bronze base signed H. Picard for Henri Picard (1840-1890). Dimensions, 13.75" high x 20.75" wide x 7.75" deep. In working condition when catalogued but requires minor adjustment. (The firm of Raingo Frères was established in 1823 and exhibited at some of the most prestigious exhibitions during the late 19th century, winning the Gold Medal at the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle).
