An attributed Robert Rauschenberg (American, 1925-2008) titled "South Sea" abstract mixed media on canvas: heavy oil, applied jute webbing remnant, cotton string balls, and acrylic. Signed Bob Rauschenberg Captiva 1958 and dedicated to Saul Bruckner(Silviu Brucan) former Romanian Ambassador to the United States. Framed in wood. The stretcher has two labels; one from president Ceausescu, one from Saul Bruckner (Silviu Brucan) detailing the ownership by former Romanian President Nicolae Ceausescu. Lot includes Raushenberg book from given by Bruckner to Ceausescu. Purportedly, Rauschenberg and Bruckner became friends during a visit to Captiva Florida in 1958 prior to Rauschenberg moving there permanently. Painting was gifted to a Romanian Army General that worked under Ceausescu and passed down through descent to the current owner. Additional documentation is available upon request.

Good Condition with some crackle and separation in oil paint and e minor losses to the painting with minor loss to the wood frame. Overall painting is soiled.
