Maud and Everett *Holding a painting after Maud Lewis
H: 5'3" (Everett)
H: 4'2" (Maud)W: 3' (overall, approx)
Note these are two separate figures that fit together
Inscription to back of painting: Carved by Stephen L. Outhouse 1999 Everett was started in the spring 1997.. He was a spruce tree from the Maud and Everett home Maud is a pine tree from North range Digby
Note: Mr. Outhouse knew the couple as a child, calling them Ev and Maudie. When the original Lewis house was taken to Halifax for restoration,a tree that Everett had planted on the property was cut down. Mr. Outhouse obtained the wood and carved a likeness of Everett. "He planted it, and now it's him," he said. (The Chronicle-Herald, 16/07/199)
