Ca. 1st Millennium BC A stone block fragment with five incised characters in Ancient South Arabian script to the obverse. During the first millennium BC, this part of the ancient world saw several different kingdoms; Qataban, Saba (Sheba), and Himyar, emerge that had built their wealth upon desert trade and in particular frankincense and myrrh.Size: L:250mm / W:160mm ; 1.71kgProvenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1980s.
