A SET OF FOUR FAMILLE-ROSE ENAMELLED DISHES
Yu Wenxiang (1910-1990)
All centrally enamelled with a wintry landscape scene featuring snow-covered trees and mountains, stout architecture by river banks, and figures in bright-colored clothes, each plate inscribed with verses depicting the scene with artist's name and place of production, each with a two-character painted artist's seal Wen Yin, each base with an iron-red seal mark Qizhen Sheng Yu (extraordinary treasure outshining jade) and three small holes for hanging drilled to the foot rim.

Yu Wenxiang was the student of He Xuren, the famous snow-scene painter and member of the 'Eight Friends of Zhushan'. He Xuren apparently acknowledged Yu Wenxiang to be his best student. Many people in Jingdezheng think that Yu Wenxiang equalled, if not bettered, the accomplishments of his master.
