A LARGE BLUE-GLAZED JUN WARE BOWL
Yuan dynasty
Well potted with steep sides rising from a slightly splayed foot to a gently incurved rim, covered with a pale grayish blue glaze darkening to a mushroom color at the rim, the glaze falling short of the foot.
7 1/2in (19cm) diam.

Li, Chinese Ceramics: a New Comprehensive Survey, London, 1996, p. 172, no. 340, with description on p. 200, noted by the author 'The striking aspect of this type of bowl is the unglazed lower part, with concentric lines on the base by a tool, a design feature that would become characteristic of later Yuan wares.'
