AN EXCEPTIONAL CARVED WHITE JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
Possibly imperial, 1750-1800
Of even white tone, of rounded form with a cylindrical neck and a neatly carved oval foot, very well-hollowed, one main side carved in low relief with a scene of a woman sitting in repose looking out from a window where a budding prunus tree issues from convoluted rockwork, the reverse left plain; stopper.

This white nephrite bottle is minimally decorated in low relief by the carver yet is elegant in its simplicity. The quality of the stone is well-paired with the skill of the carver to produce an quietly evocative scene where the woman sits, wistfully gazing out from her window.

Very good condition. An exquisite bottle, the design elegantly balanced on the pale ivory-white stone.
