This vintage 1972 Bulova Bullseye with seldom seen navy and powder blue "-T SWISS T-" signed dial presents beautifully. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The fixed fluted bezel looks good. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows minor wear, no visibly noticeable dents or dings and is free of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "BULOVA STAINLESS STEEL" with "405224" followed by "N2" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "R/" followed by "7240" and "SWISS" stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching.
The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "BULOVA WATCH Co,""11 AOCD" and "N2" stamped manual wind movement with quickset date function is exceptionally clean, keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over automatically at 12 am as it should. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling out the crown to the last position and then pushing it back in. After recently winding the sharply threaded "BULOVA" signed non-screwdown crown 45 full revolutions (excellent for a manual wind) the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 39 hours. The crown winds buttery smooth.
This watch comes on an all stainless steel bracelet showing light wear and little stretch. The inside of the clasp is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL" with "DUFONTE SWITZERLAND" stamped on the buckle. There are no spare links.
Watch size: 1,3 inch (36 mm) excl the crown, 1,5 inch (38,5 mm) with the crown, 0,6 inch (17 mm) betw the lugs. Case thickness approx: 0,3 inch (8 mm). Crystal thickness size: approx 0,3 inch (9 mm).
Although the movement runs strong and keeps accurate time, given its vintage nature and unknown service history (there are undecipherable watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back), a complete overhaul is recommended.
