Oil on canvas Signed, dated and located "Manila" in the lower left corner The painting represents the defeat of the fleet against the American during the Spanish-American war in the fight to keep the Philippine Islands. Ildefonso Sanz Doménech, was appointed by royal order First Doctor of the Spanish Navy from January 1895. He was part of the crew of the cruiser " Isla de Luzón”, already holding that appointment, attending the Cavite naval battle against the American squadron on May 1, 1898. Provenance: -Private collection, Paris -Poster on the back Collection privée Alain M. Sarfatti. Presents restorations and deterioration. The Naval Museum of Madrid has another version of this painting by the painter in its collections. Measurements: 100 x 200 cm
