Nat “King” Cole (1919-1965) Pianist, singer. Cole first came to prominence as a jazz pianist. He owes most of his popular musical fame to his soft baritone voice, which he used to perform in big band and jazz genres. In 1956, Cole became the first African-American performer to host a variety television series 9” x 12”, sixteen-page program from his performance in “Sights and Sounds”, signed on the cover next to his image and white promotional photograph of Cole and his trio signed, “To Mickey Best Wishes Nat King Cole”.
