The painting is executed in oil on a canvas support which has been lined. The canvas tension is good and the picture is in plane. The paint layers are in a stable condition. There are a few old damages and losses to the picture. In the upper right corner is an area of uneven fill and overpaint. There are areas of overpaint in the flesh of the sitter which are slightly discoloured. There are a few scuffs to the surface layer. The varnish is slightly yellowed but glossy and even. In some areas the paint layer appears to have a dirt layer which is emphasising the texture of the brushwork, notably in the sitter’s flesh. 90 x 81cm framed
