Description
Circa 1855, by William Carrington and Company along with Eoff & Shepard. The jar having a melon finial with well sculpted leaves atop hinged lid flanked by well sculpted and tall open handles attached to brilliantly hand chased and sculpted body resting on four floral pierced feet. Monogrammed J.E.D. Marked very nicely with makers marks at the underside. One small dent at front of body very fixable. Otherwise smaller dings consistent with age around lower body. No breaks or restoration. H7 1/2" W8 1/4" 604 grams standard Sold from the collection of Eudora Alston of Charleston, South Carolina.
